LAWTON — A former Fort Sill soldier charged in a brutal home invasion has been found mentally incompetent to stand trial.

Prosecutors charged Richard Daly with robbery and kidnapping in connection with a home invasion last year in which three people were shot. Prosecutors claim that the three soldiers also stole computers, DVD, clothing and other items from the Lawton apartment.

A local television station reports that a medical review found that Daly is incompetent because he does not trust his attorney. A judge ruled that Daly could become competent with proper treatment and therapy.

He has been committed to the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse's legal custody. Trial proceedings are on hold.
