In sports and in life, regardless of our preparation, experience and know-how, there will be times when we fall short. It is the way we rebound from those setbacks that defines us.
In the pages you will read a compelling story of a man faced with many trials, none of which could extinguish his dream. he simply wouldn't permit it. Eric has taken his setbacks and used them to grow and mature.
You may not appreciate just how great a victory he has won until you read the story, but trust me; he has endured tribulations that would have devastated many of us.
It was my pleasure to coach Eric. I know his enthusiasm first-hand and I know the way it lifts those around him. We were a better team with Eric on the roster. He motivated everyone that come in contact with him and reminded all of us of the energy and love for the game we should bring to the field each and every day.
College coaches are often cited for the way they motivate others. Truth be told, it is often these same young men that motivate coaches. Eric was that kind of player for me. He has impacted my life in a positive way and I know he does the same for so many others.
As you read his story I am sure you will see why we were so honored to have him on our football team, and more importantly, are still honored to day to call him a friend.
