Friday night's 2011 Prom Fashion Show at Riverwind Casino was a hit with models showing off hundreds of prom and evening gowns from Oklahoma designers Sherri Hill and Johnathan Kayne Gillaspie. Photographer Bryan Terry of The Oklahoman was there and caught some great images from the show.
In addition to the fabulous gowns, the models wore spectacular shoes by Johnathan Kayne and Alicia Hill, Sherri Hill's daughter.
Many of Gillaspie's dresses were accessorized by colorful and unique custom hats in vintage styles with feathers and netted blushes made by local designer Lydia Sullivan.
The gowns reflected many of this year's prom fashion trends: romantic, flowing dresses often accentuated with organza or silk tulle. Many of Hill's gowns especially were bedazzled in Swarovski crystals, beads and sequins.
Both lines featured bright and bold colors — lime, turquoise, hot pink, navy and yellow were prevalent. Though red is typically a common color for prom, it was almost completely missing from Friday's show. Metallic fabrics, some with wild floral or animal prints, shown on the Riverwind runway are perfect for the edgier promgoers, and classic-cut princess gowns cater to the more traditional prom girls.
