Facing the end of our great nation

Hobby Lobby's “In God We Trust” (advertisement, July 4) was an excellent review of the historical support for our Constitution and Declaration of Independence. This nation was established and flourished as a Christian nation for many years. Since World War II, some have strayed from the intention and beliefs of the Founders. They've convinced others that this country no longer needs God; the rest of us have let them suppress prayer, Bible reading and teaching in our schools and prayer in our meetings. We've allowed the removal of the Ten Commandments from public display and crosses from shrines, until symbols of faith are to be forbidden in national cemeteries, Bibles forbidden on military officers' desks and soldiers forbidden to discuss their beliefs.

Our Founders would be appalled. They knew Scripture assured them that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12). President Obama once declared, “We are no longer a Christian nation.” The question now is what can we do about it? Again, Scripture has the answer: “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land”(II Chronicles 7:14).

Are there strong Christians in this nation to lead and insist that we must stop appeasing the amoral, the Satanists and the godless and return to our Judeo-Christian roots? Otherwise, we face the end of our great nation.
