Spring classes offered at institute

• “The Making of Oklahoma” — A course designed around Oklahoma's unique history from pre-Louisiana Purchase and Indian Territory, to the land runs and up to the present. The class will feature Oklahoma authors Blue Clark and Glenda Carlisle, as well as David Wilson, director of the Oklahoma Methodist Indian Conference, and Adam McCaleb, education director at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, and visits to the Harn Homestead and Overholser Mansion.

• “The Chisholm Trail: Its History and Impact” — The story of the longest commercial route in American History. Taught by LuAnn Waters, a conservational and environmental educator.

• “The Way We Were: Understanding America” — A look at the last 150 years in American history, taught by Lloyd K. Musselman, a member of the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame.

• “Oklahoma @ the Movies — A course focused on the current exhibit at the Oklahoma History Museum.
