Q: How have college students changed as consumers?
A: Prospective students start their college searches much earlier. Usually by the start of their senior years, their lists are now narrowed down. They also often make their initial decision to visit a university based upon the strength of its website and word-of-mouth through social media. As many as 65 percent of students are looking at colleges on their mobile devices.
Q: What should students and their parents look for in a college?
A: First, consider the curriculum and outcomes of the academic program in which you are interested. Look at student-to-faculty ratios, student retention rates, internship opportunities and job placement assistance after graduation. Next, look to see if the student life outside the classroom is a good fit. Finally, see how committed the university is to making its cost affordable.
