BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Montana State Billings women's basketball coach Kevin Woodin has announced the signing of Montana State center Chelsea Banis.

Banis, who is from Fairfield, will graduate from MSU this spring and plans to start her master's degree in health administration at MSU Billings this fall. She has one year of eligibility remaining.

Banis redshirted during the 2009-10 season. She played in 16 games as a freshman before suffering a knee injury, but had scored 28 points in a game against Utah Valley. She averaged 12 points and nearly six rebounds.

As a sophomore Banis averaged 8.4 points and 4.5 rebounds. This past winter, she played in eight games and scored a total of 16 points.

Woodin says he believes Banis' athleticism, skills and size will immediately improve the team.
