Pencils, paper, crayons and glue. These and other school supplies will be distributed at faith-based back-to-school activities and giveaway events hosted by metro-area churches. The following events are free unless otherwise noted.

“Slip-N-Slide Back-to-School” outreach hosted by Family of Faith Church, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church, 13500 SE 15, Choctaw. Backpacks, school supplies and nearly new clothing giveaway for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Hot dogs, water activities and inflatables also featured. “Back-to-School Outreach” presented by Victory Church, 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at Sooner Haven, Ambassador Courts, MacArthur Park, Will Rogers and Oak Grove housing communities. “Day of Hope” backpack giveaway and back-to-school event sponsored by People’s Church, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Douglass High School, 900 N Martin Luther King. School supplies and backpacks will be given away to children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Health screenings, sports physicals, dental screenings and haircuts also are planned.
