A Kauai fisherman had to fight for his life after a 230-pound ahi capsized his boat and dragged him underwater, according to KHON2.com.

The station reports the 54-year-old man was about 14 miles off shore, alone and holding onto his capsized boat for dear life.

The man had hooked the ahi on Friday and began fighting it for about an hour when he finally got it onto his boat. When the fish took a final dive, a line wrapped around the man’s ankle and pulled him overboard, KHON2.com reports.
