Family of SeaWorld trainer killed by whale chastises critical documentary Published: January 22, 2014

The family of Dawn Brancheau, the veteran SeaWorld Orlando trainer who was killed by one of the park's killer whales in February 2010, has publicly chastised "Blackfish," the controversial documentary that scrutinizes both the tragedy and the practice of holding killer whales in captivity, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

The movie, which failed last week to land an Academy Award nomination, condemns SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. and the way it handles its killer whales, arguing that a stressful life in captivity may have caused the six-ton orca Tilikum to lash out and violently kill Brancheau.
