Fan poll: Vote for the city-area high school football Player of the Week

District play opened with big performances across the Oklahoma City Metro, putting their team in a good spot early.

And now fans can vote for the one they feel was the best.

The weekly Oklahoma City-area Player of the Week fan poll is live online at

Pick one of the selections from the poll below. Voting ends at 4 p.m. Tuesday and the results of the poll will appear in Wednesday’s Oklahoman.

Here are the candidates:

Joe Castiglione Jr., Mount St. Mary: Running back rushed for 153 yards and two TDs, lifting the Rockets to a 50-22 win against Bridge Creek.

Jake Edzards, Norman North: Kicked the game-winning field goal from 43 yards out as time expired to lift the Timberwolves past Midwest City 45-42.

Malcolm Mitchell Jr., Centennial: Rushed for three touchdowns — including a 60-yard scamper — and threw for another during Centennial’s 35-13 rout of Bethel to begin the season 3-1.

Seth Stivers, Luther: Completed 14 of 24 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Lions to a 26-14 upset of Dibble.

Stevie Thompson, Carl Albert: Scored all six of the Titans’ touchdowns and rushed for 340 yards on 39 carries during the 42-24 win against Deer Creek.

Terry Wilson, Del City: Sophomore threw three touchdowns and accounted for 252 total yards of offense as the Eagles rolled past Lawton MacArthur 38-18.
