As the regular season nears the end, some big performances across the Oklahoma City Metro clinched district championships or kept their team alive in the playoff hunt.
And now fans can vote for the one they feel was the best.
The Fans’ Choice City-Area Football Player of the Week poll is live online at NewsOK.com/Varsity.
Pick one of the selections from the poll below, or write in your own candidate in the comments section, where you can tell us why your choice deserves Player of the Week honors.
Voting ends at 4 p.m. Wednesday and the results of the poll will appear in Thursday’s Oklahoman.
Here are the candidates:
KeSean Brown, Midwest City: Former receiver rushed for all three touchdowns and 156 yards in 19-13 win against Edmond North that keeps the Bombers in the hunt for a home playoff game.
Kai Callins, Guthrie: Senior rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries during the top-ranked Bluejays’ 33-7 victory against McGuinness that sealed the District 5A-2 championship.
Deondre Clark, Douglass: The LSU commitment rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns, while also scoring a two-point conversion, during Douglass’ 22-15 win at Harrah.
Docker Haub, Kingfisher: Threw two touchdown passes and rushed for one as the second-ranked Yellowjackets rolled to the District 3A-3 title with a 45-7 rout of Newcastle.
Quan Hogan, Norman North: The sophomore scored six touchdowns — including a 71-yard kick return — and accounted for 208 total yards of offense in Timberwolves’ 49-14 rout of Moore.
Nick Sitton, Southwest Covenant: Quarterback accounted for six touchdowns, keeping the Patriots’ playoff hopes alive with a 74-30 victory against Webber Falls by forcing a three-way tie for the final playoff spot in District C-4.
Joseph Wood, McLoud: Passed for three touchdowns and rushed for two, leading the Redskins to a 33-20 upset of No. 4 Ada to remain in position for a playoff spot.
