Stern insists he was not stunned by this year’s turnstile count.

"Intuitively, we knew it would happen,” said Stern, who lightly chuckled before adding, "but you always keep your fingers crossed. It all did happen and we’re very grateful to the folks of Oklahoma.”

Stern graciously talked Thunder while granting an impromptu interview from his New York City office Friday.

"I think their first season is all that we could have hoped it would be,” Stern said. "I know the Thunder and their fans hoped it would be a little bit better won-loss record, but they have a roster that they’re in the process of constructing for the future.
