NORMANESPN College GameDay was in Norman for the first time in four years Saturday.

And a legion of sign-wielding, attention-starved football fans celebrated the event by unveiling a half-decade's worth of pithy quote-bearing posters.

Gathered with the hysterical masses inside the OU track, the Sooner cheer squad hoisted life-size cutouts of Bob Stoops and Sherri Coale. Fawning female fans produced an assortment of "We (heart) Herbie” signs.

Even the show's mainstay, a Washington State flag, made rounds through the crowd.

ESPN designated a number of its security staff to monitor and confiscate inappropriate placards. Half-crumpled behind the Home Depot stage, one displayed an enormous picture of ESPN analyst and former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz over which was printed, "Thoonerth.”

Among other favorites:

"Chase Daniel eats boogers.”

"Missouri loves company.”

"Chase Daniel. Hungry? Why wait?”

Several signs parodied Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy's recent tirade toward Oklahoman columnist Jenni Carlson:

One read, "Lee Corso is twice the man Mike Gundy is. He's 80!” Another, "Curtis Lofton, he's a man. He's No. 40.”

Wow, OU fans lighten up! They're just signs, and they're just college kids. I guarantee no Mizzou fans were offended. I thought 'Chase eats boogers' was hilarious, and I'll bet he did too. I will say, as an MU grad, I did find the Mizzou sign misspelling 'posse' (spelled possy on the sign)distressing. I guess our M on the helmet not only stands for Missouri, but also for Misspellers!

That display in Norman on Saturday was pedestrian compared to what you'd see on any campus in SEC country. I guarantee you. P.s. Jenni Carlson sucks!

There were some pitiful and embarrassing signs. A few of the ones that where pretty stupid were the ones that had pics of themselves, oh and the one with Lee Corso's and Stoops' record comparison; there was no need for that. It was embarrasing, hope they (espn) don't come back. It appeared on tv that there were many eastern OKLA. imbreds in the background toting their sings. It's embarrassing being a Sooner at times.

It's an experiment, David. The OU students are trying to discover at what point in their behavior will someone as high class as David from Missouri City will take a shot at them at the bottom of an internet newspaper article.

I'm sick of the OU student body and administration embarrassing the people of Oklahoma. Carrying sophomoric signs like "Chase Daniels Eats Boogers" and chanting "UT Sucks" on national television is a terrible reflection on this university and State.

Why do OU students find it necessary to conduct themselves in this classless manner when OSU and Tulsa students don't. The administration should do something about it.

What's wrong with "Missouri loves company"? I think that's pretty creative. It's no more offensive than "O who?" signs. I see those all the time.
