Remembered by all as a standoffish loner, Bud Skalla's generosity in his final wishes was something no one saw coming, according to Yahoo Screen.

The executor of his estate pulled aside Bud's priest just before the memorial service to tell him his gift to the church would be big. He wasn't lying. Skalla left acres of property worth an estimated $10 million to Catholic churches throughout Iowa.

Explains Father John Dorton, "western Iowa has been buzzing ever since." For some of the 13 recipients, the bequest equals four times their annual budget. Some plan to use the money for endowments and missions, or building updates, Yahoo Screen reports.
