He presented his new Chanel cruise collection recently using the Art Deco design of Raleigh Hotel's pool in South Beach as his backdrop. Guests seated poolside included actresses Diane Kruger and Anna Mouglalis, along with Vogue editor Anna Wintour and tennis player Anna Kournikova.
The clothes were heavy on black and white, but the spectacle was pure color: synchronized swimmers, a "lifeguard” on duty and strategically placed black-and-white beach balls with the Chanel logo.
"I love it. I thought it was really fun,” Wintour said. "I loved the synchronized swimmers. They were my favorite.”
The collection paired masculine and feminine — a black pants suit with white hat and heels played against goddess-like forms and a feather-adorned pastel dress. Strokes of pink, blue and gray mixed with black and white. A tight pink T-shirt with Chanel logo was paired with light green bell bottoms.
A short, black dress was held up by translucent straps and had a band of the same material on the bottom. There also were ankle-strapped, open-toed platform shoes with a heel shaped like a gun.
