Authorities reported the deaths of two people Tuesday in traffic accidents on state roads.

John T. McCormick, 73, Afton

About 2:20 p.m., McCormick was driving on State Highway 28, three miles east of Adair, when he fell asleep and his pickup left the road and struck a tree head-on, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. McCormick was wearing a seat belt.

Unidentified person

A person died about 2:40 a.m. on NE 10 at Vickie Lane in Oklahoma City when an eastbound vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a westbound vehicle head-on, authorities said. The passenger in the westbound vehicle was killed, Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said. Three other individuals were taken to OU Medical Center and are expected to survive, Knight said.
