Kids' cowboy event planned

Storyteller and local entertainer Al Bostick will perform at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, 1700 NE 63, during a Saturdays for Kids event Feb. 2.

Bostick will re-create the feats and exploits of pioneering rodeo cowboy Bill Pickett during the event, which is designed for families with children ages 4 to 12 and starts at 10:30 a.m.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. It is free with museum admission. Reservations are requested by noon Friday. Call 478-2250, ext. 264, Monday through Friday.


Opera camp try-outs set

Cimarron Opera will hold auditions next month for its three-week 2013 Opera Theatre Camp for youths ages 9 to 18.

Auditions will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 3 and 4 to 9 p.m. Feb. 4 at First Presbyterian Church, 555 S University Blvd., Norman.

Those trying out are expected to prepare two contrasting pieces that highlight vocal talent and range and bring a headshot, resume and accompaniment.
