Balloon launch celebrates nursing homes

Go to Grace Living Center-Brookwood, 940 SW 84, to celebrate National Nursing Home Week, beginning Monday with a theme of “Celebrating the Journey.” The home will kick off the week's events at 6:30 p.m. with a party and balloon launch honoring the lives of residents and the employees who care for them.

The evening also includes an antique car show, live music from the Class Swing Big Band and food.

Atomic Ranch is featured

The Citation, a midcentury modern ranch house located at 1727 South Erie Ave. in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Tulsa, is featured in the new book “Atomic Ranch: Midcentury Interiors.”

The home was built in 1955 and featured the next year as part of the Tulsa Parade of Homes.

“Atomic Ranch: Midcentury Interiors” takes eight postwar homes and examines what makes these homes special and why.

School Connections, a program of Christmas Connection, Inc., is seeking donations of new and gently used school uniform donations for low-income families.

School Connections needs solid color polo-style shirts in assorted colors without logos and khaki pants, shorts and skirts. Donations may be dropped off at the Christmas Connection Store at 5728 S May or at any Quik Print location in the metro area.
