As part of the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter's “Dogtoberfest,” a demonstration by Blaze's Tribute Equine Rescue, along with face painting, will be featured from noon to 5:45 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, SE 29 and Bryant Avenue.

The “Dogtoberfest” activities highlight the shelter's special half-price adoptions of puppies and dogs through Oct. 31. The shelter's goal is 900 pet adoptions by the end of the month.

Grafton's home is burglarized

“B” is for burglar. Mystery writer Sue Grafton, whose best sellers are titled with a letter of the alphabet, told WHAS-TV that her Louisville, Ky., home is one of several in her neighborhood that was broken into.

She said she went to put away some pieces of silver recently and noticed her set of forks, knives and miscellaneous serving pieces was missing.

Police said there's been a string of burglaries in the area in the past several weeks. They said the burglar cut glass to get into houses through the windows.

“B is for Burglar” is the title of the second novel in the “ABC” series, also known as the Kinsey Millhone Alphabet Mysteries.
