symposium spotlights clarinets

The 37th annual Clarinet Symposium at the University of Oklahoma is set for Thursday through Saturday in OU’s Catlett Music Center.

Registration is open to any level of clarinetist or music lover. Registration information is available online at ouclarinetsymposium.ou.edu or by calling 325-7466.

Evening concerts, which are open to the public, feature Alexander Fiterstein, professor of clarinet at the University of Minnesota; Roeland Hendrikx, National Orchestra of Belgium and professor of clarinet at Conservatory of Maastricht, Netherlands; Jozsef Balogh, Budapest Opera and Radio Symphony; and Alcides Rodrgiuez, Atlanta Symphony.

Mentor, author

to speak

Jay Wilkinson, executive mentor, author and speaker, will speak at the Oklahoma City Downtown Lions Club meeting at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at 520 W Main.

Wilkinson, the author of “Dear Jay, Love Dad — Bud Wilkinson’s Letters to His Son,” will speak regarding life lessons learned from his father’s letters to him during his years at Duke University in the ’60s.
