Federal grant funds to aid other Oklahoma City area health projects

In addition to the cardiovascular program directed at the 73111 ZIP code, several other projects will be supported by a $3.5 million federal Community Transformation Grant over a five-year period.

OKC Boathouse Foundation

The funds will be used to employ a health promotion specialist to educate and encourage businesses to promote healthy behaviors and nutrition for their employees.

YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City

The grant supports the printing of flip charts for an anti-obesity campaign that encourages consumption of fruits and vegetables, physical activity and elimination of sugary drinks.

Also ... Partners have not been chosen for two additional projects supported by the grant, one of which aims to extend clinic visits for residents by using community health workers and a case management approach and the other which aims to provide selected work sites with a garden market so that fresh produce can be sold to employees.
