Federal tax credit stirs first-time home buyers
It takes time to shop and time to close on a house, so the initial impact of the $8,000 federal tax credit for first-time home buyers, put in place Feb. 17, will barely show up in first-quarter sales numbers.
But the tax credit — actually for 10 percent of purchase price up to $8,000 — has been stirring some first-timers, Realtors said.
