— A woman is seeking protection from her ex-boyfriend who she said beat and choked her and ordered his pit bull terrier to attack her, court papers show.

The woman, who was hospitalized, had several cuts on her face, two black eyes, marks on her neck and “at least six large bite wounds across her legs and thighs,” according to a probable cause affidavit and petition for a protective order filed Friday in Oklahoma County District Court.

Christopher R. Birchmier, 32, of Edmond, was arrested Tuesday on multiple complaints of domestic abuse and kidnapping, and is being held in the Oklahoma County jail with bail set at $86,000, officials said.

The couple had lived together for about a week in the 3600 block of Baird Drive when the assault occurred Tuesday, Edmond police reported.

Birchmier, the woman wrote in the petition for protection, punched her in the face, choked her to the point of unconsciousness and put his thumbs in her eyes.

He also threatened to kill the woman, telling her “she wasn't getting out alive,” she wrote.

The woman said Birchmier physically and verbally assaulted her for about two hours, during which time he “would let her get up and then would attack her again.”
