BROKEN BOW — An Idabel teenager died early Sunday in a crash near Broken Bow, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Sarah Ann Cofer, 16, was riding in a pickup traveling south on U.S. 259 about 3:30 a.m. about one mile north of Joe Hough Road in Broken Bow when the vehicle left the road and fell 30 feet into a creek bed.

Troopers said Cofer was ejected about 10 feet and the vehicle landed on top of her.

The driver, William Zack Roy McReynolds, 18, of Broken Bow, fell asleep shortly before the vehicle ran off the road, troopers said.

Cofer was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, trooper said.

Two other teens in the pickup were taken to local hospitals for treatment. has disabled the comments for this article.
