After a nationwide search, Integris Health has hired industry veteran Tim Johnsen as president of its flagship hospital.

Johnsen will begin his tenure as president of Integris Baptist Medical Center on Jan. 2. He succeeds Chris Hammes, who was promoted earlier this year to executive vice president and chief operating officer of Integris' hospital network.

Hammes said he is looking forward to introducing Johnsen to the community.

“Tim has an outstanding reputation in the health care community and a track record of excellence that will be a perfect fit at Integris Baptist,” Hammes said.

Johnsen has been president of Mercy Hospital Hot Springs in Arkansas since 2007.

He has spent more than 25 years in the health care field, working as a cardiac intensive care nurse and emergency services director before moving into administration in 2000 as chief operating officer of a health care system in Missouri.

He earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Southwest Missouri State University and master's degrees in health services administration from Southwest Baptist University and business administration from Webster University.

Johnsen and his wife, Nancy, plan to move to Oklahoma City with their two children.
