Man sought in carjacking

A woman giving a stranger a ride was punched in the face and carjacked Wednesday night, police said.

About 8:30 p.m., the woman picked up a man near NE 36 and Westminster Road.

“She was just being a nice Samaritan. When they got to the intersection of NE 36 and Post, he just punched her in the face and pushed her out of the car,” Police Chief Virgil Green said.

She had a dog in the car with her, which he also threw out of the vehicle. The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries, Green said.

The carjacker was described only as a white man. The stolen vehicle is a 2008 Mazda hatchback with Texas tag BF9W995.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
