The Bella Foundation, PetSmart Charities and several other rescue groups will hold their Home for the Holidays event Friday through Sunday in Oklahoma City.

More than 300 dogs and cats will be available for adoption at the PetSmart at 2932 NW 63 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

The Rev. Joseph Alsay of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church will conduct a blessing of the pets at noon Saturday.

This is the second large adoption event the Bella Foundation has helped coordinate this year. In May, a Wizard of Oz-themed event helped find homes for nearly 200 dogs and cats. This time of year, Christmas and giving is an obvious theme.

“Finding homes for pets is a year-round problem in Oklahoma City, but this time of year everyone is looking for a cause to be a part of or a way to help, so we wanted to focus on getting these dogs and cats into homes in time for Christmas,” Bella Foundation program coordinator Tevin Garner said.

The dogs and cats will be available to meet inside a large tent. Other rescue groups bringing dogs and cats will include: Safe Haven Animal Rescue, Second Chance Animal Sanctuary, Edmond Animal Welfare, Red Dirt Boxer Rescue and Best Friends of Pets.

Adoption fees range from $25 to $150. For more information, go to or call (866) 318-7387.
