OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma's incoming Speaker of the House is meeting with injured soldiers from Fort Sill's Warrior Transition Unit.

Republican Rep. T.W. Shannon met Tuesday with about 10 soldiers who were touring the state Capitol. The Warrior Transition Unit helps soldiers who are wounded, injured or ill transition from the military to civilian life. Some of the soldiers had expressed an interest in pursuing a career in politics.

Shannon represents Lawton, where the Fort Sill Army Post is located. He thanked the soldiers for their service and then posed for pictures with the soldiers in the House rotunda.

The House was expected to vote later Tuesday to formally elect Shannon as the Speaker of the House.
