Oklahoma City police said they arrested a man after he drove into a construction zone, hit a construction worker with his car and fled the scene.
Damian Johnston Dial, 30, was arrested Monday on a complaint of assault with deadly weapon (a motor vehicle).
Police responded to a call from the area of NE 121 and Kelley Avenue.
Kelley is closed between Hefner Road and NE 122 while construction workers place an underground water line on the west side of the road, according to the report.
A construction worker told police a man in a white Chevrolet Impala drove through the road closed signs and ran over Clayton Crawford's foot.
The driver got out of the car and exchanged words with Crawford, 57.
The driver got back into his car as Crawford yelled at a co-worker to get the car's license plate number.
The driver drove the car forward, knocking Crawford onto the hood and causing Crawford to roll off the hood about 20 feet from the point of impact, according to the report.
Crawford was taken to OU Medical Center with head injuries.
Crawford has been released, a hospital spokesman said.
Police found Dial about an hour after the accident and brought him back to the scene where two witnesses identified him as the driver, according to the report.
Dial was taken to the Oklahoma County jail and was released Tuesday.
