Country club hosts tournament

The Greens Country Club will host the seventh annual Holiday Classic tennis tournament benefiting the Children's Hospital Foundation and Special CARE on Friday through Sunday to collect toys for children. The tournament is open to the public and costs $23 per event. Each participant is encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy. In partnership with The Greens Country Club, Oklahoma Lawyers for Children is also collecting new toys for this benefit. The Greens Country Club will be accepting toy donations through Dec. 14. Toys can be dropped off at The Greens tennis facilities. To register for the tournament or for more information, call 751-1094.

Addiction film is screened

“12: Promises” is the follow-up documentary to the 2008 film “12: Is There Life After Rehab in Recovery?” The film “12: Promises” examines solutions to the problems confronting teens as they transition from the first steps of recovery into re-establishing their lives. The 7 p.m. Wednesday screening at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art's Noble Theater will be followed by a panel discussion. This event is copresented by the 12 Foundation, the OCU Addiction Prevention Studies Program and the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Christmas in Old Town has free events

Christmas in Old Town will offer free events on Friday. The tree in front of City Hall will be lit at 6 p.m., and businesses will be open between 6 and 8 p.m. with light displays, refreshments and music. Broadway Florists will offer photos with Santa and there will be carriage rides starting there and at Peek-A-BooTique. At the Community Center, the fire department will have a toy drive where unwrapped toys can be donated for the Santa Express program. From 6 to 8:30 p.m. there will be cinnamon rolls, apple cider, clowns, games and inflatables. The Holiday Gala at the Moore Library is from 5 until 7:30 p.m. with a silent auction for gingerbread houses and other holiday items.
