Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin expected to have $7 billion for budget
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A panel of Oklahoma's elected officials is expected to certify about $7 billion in available revenue for Gov. Mary Fallin to use while building her budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The State Board of Equalization meets Thursday at the state Capitol and is expected to approve an early revenue estimate that shows the governor will have about $214 million more than last year to include in her budget.
The governor's office uses the December projection of revenue collections to develop the executive budget, which Fallin will present to lawmakers on the opening day of the 2013 legislative session in February.
The board will meet again in February for a final certification of the amount that lawmakers will have available to appropriate.
