The death of a Lawton woman is under review by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation after police said they were unsure whether an officer shot her or if she shot herself.

Lauren Haskins, 30, died about 3 p.m. Thursday.

Lawton police were called to her house to check on her welfare. When they arrived they determined she was suicidal, OSBI said in a statement.

Haskins pulled out a gun and at least one officer fired their weapon, but it is unclear whether police shot Haskins or she shot herself, according to the report.

OSBI said when they are finished with their investigation, they will turn it over to the district attorney, who will decide whether the shooting was justified.

The names of the officers were not released Thursday evening.
