UPDATE: Storms moving across Oklahoma

South central and southeast Oklahoma are under a severe thunderstorm watch, warning, the National Weather Service reported.

Severe weather is moving across south central and southeast Oklahoma, the National Weather Service said.

The NWS issued a severe thunderstorm watch, which is in effect until 4 a.m., for a swath of Oklahoma extending along and 45 miles north and south of a line from 20 miles south southwest of Ardmore to 10 miles east southeast of Poteau.

Carter County is under a warning until 12:30 a.m. according to local emergency managers. During severe thunderstorm warnings, a significant threat to life or property exists.

Hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter and wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour are possible in the watch area. Severe thunderstorms are capable of and occasionally produce tornadoes, the weather service said.
