A convicted drug dealer was sentenced to 10 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Laanderick Chavin Rucker, 28, was arrested in March with two handguns, including one with an obliterated serial number.

Rucker pleaded guilty in federal court in Oklahoma City in September to the firearm charge, although a drug charge that could have netted up to 40 years in prison was dismissed as part of his plea agreement with prosecutors.

He was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Tim Leonard.

Rucker had prior drug convictions out of Oklahoma County dating back to 2000.

He was paroled from state prison in November 2006 after serving almost five years of a 15-year term for drug trafficking.
