Female incarceration rates slow

Oklahoma continues to lead the nation in the rate of incarceration of women, but the state actually has slowed the steady stream in recent years, according to a recent study.

"The Punitiveness Report," a study released by the Women's Prison Association , said Oklahoma incarcerated 129 women, sentenced to a year or longer, for every 100,000 women in the population during 2004. That's tops in the nation, well ahead...
