Two neighbors were arrested after a disagreement over a shared fence ended with the two throwing punches at each other, Oklahoma City police reported Tuesday.

Mike Enriquez, 32, and Gustavo Gonzales, 39, both were arrested on assault and battery complaints.

Police were called about 10 p.m. Thursday to the 500 block of SE 44 in reference to a disturbance, according to the incident report.

Gonzales told police he was mowing his lawn when he noticed Enriquez put a rug on the fence separating their properties. Gonzales said he did not want the rug on his fence because it would bend the metal so he threw it off.

Enriquez put the rug back on the fence and Gonzales took the rug off a second time. After this, Gonzales picked up grass off the lawn and threw it at Enriquez. Enriquez then punched Gonzales, according to the report.

Enriquez told police the fence belonged to him so he could put a rug on it. He said Gonzales struck him in the face, and he hit Gonzales back once and that Gonzales' mother threw a shoe at him, according to the report. has disabled the comments for this article.
