Financial Peace classes set

Financial Peace University classes will begin at several Oklahoma churches in the coming weeks.

The 13-week program created by financial expert Dave Ramsey will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 403 N Kate Boevers in Union City. For more information about the classes, call Andrew Teel at 459-6567.

Draper Park Christian Church, 8500 S Walker, will offer classes starting at 6 p.m. Thursday. For more information, call Robert Griffin at 370-0165.

Musical tells biblical story

The critically acclaimed off-Broadway musical "The Rock and The Rabbi” will be presented Thursday and Friday at Oklahoma Christian University’s Hardeman Auditorium, 2501 E Memorial.

The performances are sponsored by the university’s business club, Students in Free Enterprise.

The musical will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Also, "The Witnesses,” part two of "The Rock and Rabbi” trilogy, will be presented at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14.

"The Rock and The Rabbi” presents a classical tale of betrayal, friendship, reconciliation and forgiveness using a mix of original acoustic music and storytelling. It chronicles the biblical story of the friendship between Simon Peter and Jesus.

Gospel music on tap

WARWICKInspiration Hill will offer a gospel concert at 7 tonight at Successful Word Church.

The event will include music from the Hunt Family Bluegrass and Chris Hester. A love offering will be taken.

The church is 7.2 miles west of Chandler on State Highway 66 and has a big white cross. For more information, call 356-4051.

Volunteers, sponsors needed

to help families at Christmas

Catholic Charities’ Adopt-a-Family Christmas program is seeking sponsors and volunteers.

Last year, volunteers and sponsors helped Catholic Charities provide Christmas presents for 286 families. This year’s goal is to provide gifts for 350 families.

Individuals, families, small businesses and large corporations may become sponsors. Volunteers are needed between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to assist with mailings, phones, databases and other tasks to prepare for the program. Volunteers also are needed during the third week of December for dropoff and pickup days.

Why are these being held at churches? I bet a big part of attaining financial peace will be firstly giving your required 10% of your income to the church huh? How much more money would the world have if we just put that 10% in the bank instead?
