Entries sought

Oklahoma visual artists working in all media are encouraged to submit works for possible inclusion in the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition's exhibition “Concept/OK: Art in Oklahoma.” The exhibit, scheduled Dec. 16 through Feb. 16, will be the inaugural exhibition at Tulsa's Hardesty Arts Center. More than $15,000 will be awarded. Deadline for submissions is Wednesday. Application forms can be found at www.Concept-OK.org.

Summer exhibition

Opening Friday at Visions in the Paseo, 2924 Paseo, is an “Emerging Women in Photography” exhibit. Works by seven artists will be featured. An opening reception is planned from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday. “Emerging Women in Photography” will remain on view through Aug. 30.

How the mind perceives images

“The Mind's Eye: The Creative Vision of Brett McDanel and Jan Brieschke,” opens Friday at the Paseo Originals Art Gallery, 2920 Paseo. The exhibit, which opens with a 6 to 10 p.m. reception, features McDanel's sculptures made with found objects and Brieschke's watercolor and acrylic abstractions. The artists will present a brief discussion of their work at 3 p.m. Saturday. “The Mind's Eye” will remain on view through Sept. 2.

August exhibit

Opening Friday with a 6 to 10 p.m. reception at JRB Art at the Elms, 2810 N Walker, is an exhibit featuring contemporary works in a variety of media by Dallas artist Heather Gorham. Also showing is “Conditioned,” a multimedia installation by local artist Delvie McPherson. A third exhibit titled “Artists to Watch” showcases works by emerging artists Shannon Kolvitz, Ashford Thomson and Bobby Lee. The exhibits will remain on view through Aug. 31.

End-of-summer exhibit

The Summer Wine Art Gallery, 2928-B Paseo, will feature Timothy Rose's “2012 Abstract Art Event” beginning Wednesday and continuing through Aug. 31. Rose's abstract paintings seek to engage the viewer's emotions through imposed rules. An opening reception is planned from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday.
