No one was hurt, Clark said. Workers from the American Red Cross were on the scene to help residents find housing.

One of the building's eight units was vacant, but the other seven units were not, Clark said. All eight were rendered uninhabitable.

"It (the building) is not inhabitable at all, even the ones (apartments) that weren't touched," Clark said.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at Parkside Apartments, 901 E Maguire Rd., about 7:40 a.m. and extinguished it about 4 1/2 hours later, Clark said. Thirty-five firefighters responded from the scene, representing departments in Noble, Purcell, Slaughterville and Norman.

The fire was caused by a faulty fuse box, Clark said.

Clark said he did not know how many people lived in the apartments. An estimate of the value of the damage was not immediately available.
