WEWOKA — A fire destroyed a downtown restaurant Thursday night, but the cause has not been determined, fire officials said Friday.

CJ's Restaurant, in the 200 block of S Wewoka Street, caught fire about 9:10 p.m. Thursday, Wewoka fire Capt. James Keesee said. No one was hurt.

Keesee said investigators from the state fire marshal's office were expected to determine the cause of the blaze. Wewoka Fire Chief Kevin Anderson did not have the cause or damage estimate for the fire Friday afternoon.

Stu Phillips, publisher of the Wewoka Times, said his nearby office and First National Bank of Wewoka sustained fire, smoke and water damage.

He said the weekly Wewoka Times will be able to publish because the newspaper is printed at its sister newspaper site, The Seminole Producer.
