A machine shop fire Sunday sent smoke billowing over northwest Oklahoma City for hours.

The blaze, reported about 5:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of NW 10, burned from late afternoon until well after sundown. No injuries were reported in the fire, the fire department's Deputy Chief Marc Woodard said.

The machine shop is between a bar and a light bulb store. Neither of those businesses sustained fire damage, Woodard said.

Acetylene tanks inside the building and a sagging roof prompted firefighters to leave the building and fight the flames from outside and above via fire engine ladder, he said.

The cause of the fire and a damage estimate were not immediately available.
