Fire weather watch Thursday afternoon in Oklahoma

Wildfires will be a threat in Oklahoma Thursday. Winds could gust up to 33 mph in central Oklahoma.

A fire weather watch is in effect for western parts of Oklahoma, including the Oklahoma City area, Thursday afternoon due to high winds and warm temperatures.

The high fire danger risk is from noon until 6 p.m. across western and northern parts of the state, the National Weather Service reports. Winds could gust up to 33 mph.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 57. North, northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 19 to 24 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear with a low around 27. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny with a high near 50. Northwest wind 7 to 14 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 31. West wind 5 to 14 mph becoming south in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 58. Southwest wind 14 to 17 mph becoming north, northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly clear with a low around 31.

Sunday: Sunny with a high near 65.

Sunday night: Clear with a low around 36.

M.L. King Jr. Day: Sunny with a high near 59.

Monday night: Mostly clear with a low around 31.

Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 48.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear with a low around 29.

Wednesday: Sunny with a high near 51.
