Fired guard is accused of sexual offenses against nine female inmates at Oklahoma prison

Jamie Baker was charged in Pottawatomie County District Court with 15 felony counts.

He faces nine counts of second-degree rape, four of sexual battery, one of forcible sodomy and one of first-degree rape by force or fear.

“He used his position of absolute power to force himself on multiple women; an egregious violation of both public trust and human decency,” District Attorney Richard Smothermon said.

Baker, 43, of Earlsboro, was terminated Sept. 12 “for the good of the service,” Corrections Department spokesman Jerry Massie said.

Baker began working for the agency May 1. He was a probationary employee.

Baker will plead not guilty Friday when he makes his first court appearance, his attorney, Irven Box, said.

The defense attorney said Baker now is an oil field worker, is married and has five children.

Prosecutors allege in the charge that the offenses began in July and mostly involved the first victim.

Baker and that inmate both admitted during an investigation to having sex, a Corrections Department Internal Affairs agent reported in a court affidavit.

Other inmates also admitted to having sex with Baker while some reported he touched their breasts, the agent wrote.

Baker came under investigation after an inmate on Sept. 11 reported seeing him having sex in a storage closet, according to the agent's affidavit.

In Oklahoma, it's a felony to have sex with an inmate — even if the sex is consensual.
