Firefighters battle wildfire near Cushing

Cushing firefighters are trying to disperse a wildfire moving north toward Payne County. The call came in about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. So far, no structures have burned.

CUSHING — Firefighters from two counties are battling a large wildfire south of Cushing.

Cushing Fire Department Lt. Justin Menser said the call came in about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. He said the fire started in Lincoln County and is burning north toward Payne County. A National Guard helicopter has been sent to help battle the fire.

No structures have burned so far, Menser said. Other details weren't immediately available.
