The woman did not appear hurt, and a firefighter was overheard on a radio scanner saying the woman did not “appear to be in any danger.”

Dive teams and a boat crew responded to the scene to help.

As far as I understand it, in any 'city lake,' swimming or even wading is prohibited, though in Overholser and Draper, you can do the wet bike thing as well as to ski at Draper, and at Hefner, you can wind surf. As she was below the dam, this may be a technicality that she was in the river rather than the lake.

Well Kevin, apparently she was swimming in that polluted gene pool today. LOL!! WTH was she thinking??? One only has to stand there and watch the water swirl around to know there is a strong undertow. She needs to be ticketed, I don't think you are supposed to really swim in Overholser at all are you? I know you can boat and jet ski but I thought it was strictly no swimming.

My 'kitten theory' applies here. Gazillions of kittens are born every year because so many do stupid stuff and get killed, therefore many are born to insure survival of the species. With people, we have laws passed to (hopefully) prevent us from doing stupid stuff to get killed and to insure survival of the species. However, the bad effect of this is that too many dumb ones survive and replicate, therefore polluting the gene pool. The end.

Why was she swimming near the dam? Isn't there a strict no-swim zone above and below the structure. Didn't a kid die there last year? If she was swimming in a no-swim zone they need to issue her a ticket. People have no business swimming above or below that structure as they have no idea when OKC wants to let water flow. If you are near it when the gates are opened you have no chance of fighting the currents as it would be like flushing a toilet.
