Oklahoma City firefighters rescue man dangling from I-40 inside truck
A man was rescued by Oklahoma City firefighters from inside a tractor-trailer hanging from I-40 Friday. The driver and one other motorist suffered minor injuries.
A truck driver was stuck inside his big rig for nearly an hour as it balanced on the edge of the Interstate 40 Crosstown bridge in a downtown accident that backed up rush-hour traffic.

“He was scared to death in the truck thinking he was going to fall over the edge,” Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. Chris West said. “Literally, the tractor, the trailer was hanging on by the skin of its teeth.”
When firefighters arrived on the scene of the 8 a.m. Friday crash, their first task was making sure the rig didn't fall off the bridge.
A section of the cab and part of the gravel-hauling trailer were hanging over the side of the bridge, 40 feet above the pavement.
They broke out a window and spoke to the driver, who waited in the cab's sleeper compartment as wreckers used chains and cables to secure the truck.
Once emergency responders were sure the truck was stable, Oklahoma City firefighter John Craig climbed up on the cab, put a rescue harness on the driver and helped him out of the vehicle. The driver, whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for observation. He was in good condition. A motorist who was in another vehicle involved in the accident was also hospitalized in good condition.
