The first, at 10521 Songbird Lane, started about 4:45 p.m., Midwest City fire department spokesman Jerry Lojka said.

The fire spread from a tipped grill at another residence and traveled across the lawn up the side of the house and into the attic, Lojka said.

No one was home at the time and damage is estimated at $70,000.

The second fire started about 5:45 p.m. in a back bedroom of a house at 1013 Holly Lane. A 13-year-old girl was home at the time but she was not hurt, Lojka said.

Investigators have ruled out accidental causes and are attributing the fire to human error, Lojka said.

Damage is estimated at $15,000.
