First-place Barons hang on to beat Grand Rapids

*Plante was not injured in the second period of Friday night's game when he was speared by Grand Rapids captain Garnet Exelby. Plante was coming in to defend teammate Hartikainen, who had taken a hard hit by Exelby. Referees Shaun Davis and Jared Hoffmeyer issued Exelby two minutes for high sticking, a five-minute major for spearing, a game misconduct for spearing and a game misconduct for abuse of an official.

The game was physical as the teams combined for 27 penalties totaling 102 minutes.

*Oklahoma City continues a three-games-in-three-nights road stretch at 7 Saturday in Rockford, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. The Barons return to Grand Rapids for a 4 p.m. Sunday game.
