MS Walk is set for May 4

The National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society: Oklahoma will hold its Walk MS: Oklahoma City with presenting sponsor Supercuts on May 4 at the Oklahoma City Zoo.

More than 2,800 walkers are expected to come out and help raise the goal of $130,000. Funds raised will support direct services and programs for people with MS and their families in Oklahoma and MS research to find a cure for this chronic disease of the central nervous system.

People can participate in Walk MS individually or as a team. Volunteers also are needed. To register or for more information, call (800) 344-4867 or visit www.walkMSok.org. Walkers also can register on the day of the event beginning at 7 a.m. The walk officially starts at 8 a.m.

Cystic Fibrosis event planned for May 4

The local chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is gearing up for its Great Strides Walk Event on May 4 at Route 66 Park at Lake Overholser in Oklahoma City. Various teams are raising money to participate in the walk.

One of them will host a separate fundraiser in conjunction with the walk, KarsonFest, from 5 to 9 p.m. April 14 at Grady's 66 Pub in Yukon.

Cost to enter is $5, and participants can enjoy music by Kyle Carter and participate in live and silent auctions. All proceeds from ticket sales, food sales and the auctions will go to Karson Vega's team in the walk. The 5-year-old is living with cystic fibrosis.
